New membership policy at Sf Citadel

We now have over four thousand members and it has become difficult to look up membership numbers at the door. To speed things up we are discontinuing this process. As of January 1st, 2010 you will be required to show a current SF Citadel membership card when you come to play parties.

If you don’t have your current Citadel membership card with you at the door, here are a couple ways you can enjoy the party:

1. Have a friend who has a current SF Citadel membership card with them guest you in for the party.

2. If you’ve left your card at home and its current, you can buy a $5.00 weekend membership pass.

3. Renew your membership for $10.00 and always have it with you when you come to play at SF Citadel.

Thank you for your understanding and thanks to the many members who have been bringing their cards with them recently. This helps the cashiers and door volunteers to get everyone in quickly so that we can all have a good time.

Kink, Costumes and debauchery abound as the creatures of the night come out to celebrate everyone's favorite dark holiday. It helps students learn to write a good psychological/emotional contract – and provide for good aftercare. Basha is a clinical psychologist of 25 years experience who specializes in risk assessments, trauma therapy, personal development work for people who choose alternative lifestyles. Neighborhood details:
• One block from the N-Judah line with easy transportation to/from downtown (40 minutes by train/15 minutes by car using Lincoln/Oak or Fell), many universities, and the beach
• Plenty of street parking available (unlike most of San Francisco)
• Three blocks from Golden Gate Park and all of its museums and gardens
• A short walk from local shopping and restaurant districts on Irving and Noriega
• Quick access to 19th Street and Sunset Boulevard for northern or southern commuting corridors

House details:
• This is a three-bedroom, split bathroom (sink/shower in one room and W.C. in the other) house with hardwood floors.
• The living room is large, well-lit, and has a modern décor. It is located adjacent to our bedroom at the front of the house. Comcast cable and wireless internet access are available to all roommates (with the added bonus of an in-house technical troubleshooter).
• A door separates our bedroom and the living room from the kitchen, bathrooms, and back bedrooms so there is a greater sense of privacy for all roommates.
• The kitchen is large and has a dishwasher and a gas stove.
• The garage on the first level of the house has some storage available, a clothes washer/dryer (no more Laundromats!), and our den/office.

Room details:
Each room rents for $900 but, if both rooms are rented by a single person, the rent would be $1,700 total.
• The master bedroom (room is unfurnished, furnishings in picture only for size reference) is 12’9” X 10’9”, has a 5’10” X 2’6” entry way, and two large closets. The first closet is 6’6” X 2’3”, has a cedar floor, is mirrored, and has both double and single hanging bars, shoe shelves, and upper storage shelves. The second closet is 3’1” X 3’10”, has single hanging bars and upper storage shelves. The room is on the West side of the house and gets lots of light through the windows, which have levolor blinds.
• The second room (10’7” X 10’8”) is next to the master bedroom, has a 3’6” X 2’7” entry way, and two large closets. The closets are mirrored, laid out in an L-shape, with double and single hanging bars and multiple upper storage shelves. The first closet is 6’6” X 2’3” and the second closet is 4’1” X 3’7”. This room is also on the West side of the house and gets a lot of light through its two windows, which have levolor blinds.

The fine print:
• First month’s rent and security deposit required to move in.
• Utilities are not included and are split between all roommates. Utilities include Comcast Cable/High Speed Internet, PG&E, Garbage, Water/Sewer.
• She will do all the major housecleaning every two weeks for an additional $40/month charge per room if you prefer not to do any cleaning.
• You may move in as soon as you’d like as the rooms are ready-to-go.

Mark your calendars - it’s that time again! Lady Thorns SM Community Exchange and Fandango is just a couple of weeks away on August 9th, 2009. An afternoon at the Bizarre Flea, topped off with a Fandango party at the SF Citadel, will make for a really memorable day. The July Munch will be special. Two SoJ members will be exchanging wedding vows. I am so honored to be a part of their special day. To accommodate the ceremony, there will be some changes for the July Munch.

The Munch will begin as usual at noon. The ceremony will begin at 12:30PM. People arriving between noon and 12:30PM are encouraged to find seating and order their lunch.

At 12:30PM the curtain will be closed. People arriving after 12:30PM will be admitted through the back entryway. The ceremony will begin at 12:30PM, after which there will be good wish speeches.

Around 1:00PM the curtain will be opened and food orders already placed will be delivered. People who arrived after 12:30PM will then be able to place their lunch orders. We will also be doing introductions and announcements. Following introductions, the wedding cake will be cut in the front room.

OK---the SF Citadel Pride Contingent Meeting was well-attended, & we filled in some important spaces to make Our presence at Sunday's Parade just as awesome as it always has been. Work crews are in place...entertaining parts of the contingent are in place...the only thing left?

Soooo....ARE YOU GONNA MARCH WITH US?? If so, here's what we need you to do:

Be at the convening point for the SF Citadel contingent at the corner of BEALE & MARKET STREET, DOWNTOWN SAN FRANCISCO, 10AM!

This is where we'll be putting the final touches on our outfits, staying cool (find some shade) hydrated (drink plenty of water), & staying protected (don't forget that sunscreen!). As I announced last night at the meeting, 2009's Parade holds lots of significance...for one, in light of last month's ruling upholding Prop 8, a statement should be made amongst those of us in suport of same-sex marriages. Another reason is this year marks the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Inn Riots---the monumental event that was the basis of the Pride Parade formation worldwide!

Now's the time to start putting everything all together to insure that We have an incredible presence in this year's Pride Parade. The SF Leather Pride Contingent & the marchers from SF Citadel have always been an organized, entertaining crowd favorite...& We won't disappoint them this year!! The meeting will be at 8pm. (immediately following the "Safewords" meeting)

Things We'll be discussing in this all-important meeting:

* discussing safety rules for contingents
* previewing Our contingent layout for this year's parade
* discussing meeting time/location for the parade
* filling in "specialty" marchers slots (i.e., flag bearers, motorcyclists, singletails/florentine floggers, human ponies, etc)
* organizing the float build crew & float tear-down crew

So, if you're interested in being a "specialty" marcher, a wheel monitor, a contingent monitor, a float build or tear-down crewperson, or just want to show your Citadel Pride & march with Us, this is the meeting you MUST attend!!!

Super Villains and Heroes make front page of S.F. Chronicle

San Francisco Chronicle Today has an article in regards to the increased sightings of alleged "Super Villains". Its hard to see in the picture I posted from their website but the Article reads as such. ( see the newly posted picture of the chronicle in the pics of this tribe)

San Francisco Ca. An unidentified man wearing a black and green stripped shirt entered the Wells Fargo Bank at Market and 8th St. just after closing on Wednesday night. Bank employees were taking by surprise when the robber appeared out of nowhere and demanded the manager open the vault. When the manager explained he could not do so due to the fact the vault was on a timer the robber became enraged and began slamming the vault door with his fists. Witnesses said the man was able to "Transform" his hands into large solid mallets which he used to hammer the vault open. As the robber worked on the vault employees trapped inside the bank were able to make their escape. By the time police arrived the lone robber had managed to disappear with over 40 Thousand dollars worth of stole goods leaving only trace amounts of what is believed to be sand and limited video footage of his getaway.

This marks the 3rd bank in 6 weeks to be robbed in this manner. Police worry that this increase in Criminal activity is the result of a new breed of Criminal they are calling "Super Villains". Where these "Super Villains" have come from no ones knows. But the increase of their numbers in the San Francisco and Bay areas has people living in fear and officials scrambling to play catch up.

Early Thursday morning police carried out a raid on a Mission district warehouse after a anonymous caller claimed it was the staging area for the infamous cat burglar know as "Cat Women". SWAT members were able to capture cat Women after a brief but brutal battle which put two police officers in the Hospital. Cat Women is currently being held with out bail for trial.

The increase in "Super Villains" has lead to a rise in the sightings and reporting of Vigilante activity as well. A "Hero" identify himself only as Rorschach is wanted by police for questioning in the slaying of an alleged rapist. Other "Super Heroes" have popped over the last few months in response to the increase in criminal activities. Mayor Gavin Nuisance has urged the people of San Francisco not to panic and has promised that police patrols will be tripled until things can be brought back under control.

In the meantime residence of our fair city are left wondering what this is all leading up to and is this just the beginning of something larger and more ominous. History has shown that its only a matter of time until this clash between police, "Super Villain" and "Super Heroes" comes to a head. Who will win and who will be left standing when its all over only time will tell.

The SF Citadel is again having a marching contingent in the SF LGBT Pride Parade. We have been a proud supporter of the Pride Parade from the start and long before.

This year like many, we will be having a "float". We are in need of a full size pickup truck, in decent shape and with a good cooling system. We would like to decorate it, put a St. Andrews Cross in the back and drive it down Market Street on the last Sunday in June.

If anyone has one we can borrow, let me know.

Reflections (a discussion group for female submissives & slaves) will be held this coming Monday, 4/13, from 7-9 PM. This month we will discuss how we arrange "casual" play (which I am defining as play with someone *other* than your Dominant) -- including negotiations, safeguards, and how we take care of ourselves afterwards.

August may come home today

Thanks for all your great thoughts for her.

August may be released today. I am heading over to be with her. She had a rough night with leg pain but is able to sit up now. She has been in Saint Mary's Hospital at 450 Stanyon St. This morning will be filled with doctor visits because the tend to run off during the weekend.

The Surgeon was by every day and is great as was the Physical Therapist.

I am not sure exactly when of if they will release her, she needs to be able to walk and she took a few steps with a walker. If she can move further today she will most likely be released and we plan to put her under the tent area on the top floor.

In all likelyhood she will need to use a walker for a little while.

Does anyone have one we can borrow? We can return it after she is better, this would be for a maximim of about 3 weeks.

I also think insurance will pay for one so if not, no problem.

Wish her well. She's proving to be a strong kitten and has lots o'guts.

I will let you all know what's up as soon as I can.

No Visitors Today

I just got off the phone with August and she needs you to know she loves all the support you have all given her. She hasn't seen her physical therapy team yet and had a difficult time last night with a less than wonderful late night weekend nursing staff.

Today she is not up for seeing any visitors so please wait a day or two to visit her in the hospital.

I will be going over to see her today and may well spend the night there.

She asks for no visitors today, please.

Update on August's health

It has been a very difficult couple of weeks emotionally on both of us. Thank you for your support.

August went into the hospital for her operation Thursday before last. Friday at about 11:00 AM she was transported to pre-op. After waiting about half an hour the anesthetist came and talked to us. She looked over her chart and didn't like the EKG taken of August the day before.

After consulting with others in pre-op, a heart specialist was called to check her out. To make this story shorter, they didn't operate and sent her home in the same pain she came in with.

Last Friday, she was checked out by the the heart specialist and given a green light to have her back surgery. Monday we will be making another appointment for her surgery. I will let you know when it will happen.

The delay sucks but it's better they know she won't have any problems on the operating table or afterwords.

August will have back surgery this weekend

Today August and I went to see her back surgeon. Her doctor, Charlie Moser and the surgeon decided to admit her to St. Mary's hospital on Steiner street tomorrow afternoon to spend 4 or 5 days there. Thursday they will be moderating her blood sugar and her blood pressure. Friday they will do the back surgery and she may come home Sunday.

Keep good thoughts for her. She has been in a huge amount of pain for months now and I really hope this makes her better.

The Beginners Dungeon Monitors Class will be taught at the SFCitadel on Sunday
Afternoon, April 5th, from 1 to 4. The class will be taught by Daddy Ken,
International Master 2009. Daddy Ken is a member of the board of the Dungeon
Monitors Association and a Fraternal Member of The 15 Association. He is also
the author of the class curriculum.

Active dungeon monitors who may want to refresh or sharpen their dungeon
monitoring skills are invited to take the class along with those who are ready
to begin to be of service to their community.

Being a dungeon monitor is not, of course, for everyone. Complaints abound about
overzealous dungeon monitors who interfere with scenes when they have no
business interfering. Those who are fast to feel a need to jump into a scene
when they see something they don't agree with do not make good dungeon monitors.
Dungeon monitors are kinky lifeguards, but they are NOT the dungeon police. They
are the eyes of the party host. The host can't be everywhere, and the dungeon
monitor watches over play to make sure all is safe and to be there in a life
threatening emergency. Interfering in a scene in all but immediately life
threatening emergencies is always the prerogative of the host only.

DMA training teaches the difference between safe play and unsafe. What
constitutes an emergency and what does not. What to do in an emergency. How to
be helpful in the dungeon and how you can enhance the play experience of
players.

We suggest that those attending the class be those who have been active in the
kink community for at least a year before attending. Knowledge and familiarity
with all of the common forms of BDSM play is assumed of those taking the class.

At the conclusion of the class, a test will be given. Those who pass the test
will be given a membership card for the Dungeon Monitors Association. Showing
this card is frequently required if you are volunteering to DM for a host who is
not familiar with you.

You will, of course, be able to attend parties free as volunteers, but more
importantly you'll be giving back to your community. The time you spend taking
this class will pay back in helping your friends and everyone in the kinky
communities better enjoy their dungeon experiences.

The beginners DMA class requires advanced registration, so that adequate
teaching materials will be available. You may register by e-mailing Bob Hughes

Class fee is $25 for new students, $20 for DMA members
who are attending to improve their skills.

A lot of us have joined Facebook recently. I noticed that several kink-related groups and events are starting to pop up, and that all of them are marked "anyone can join & invite others to join". This means, if you join a group or RSVP to an event, it WILL show up on your profile page AND on the profile pages of everybody on your friends list. Including your mom. And your sister's kids. Your sixth grade boyfriend. Your boss...(and even if you leave the group it still shows up on your wall and even if you delete it off your own wall it has already gone out to all your friends.)
The people you really didn't need to Know this about you! Accidental outing can make lots of trouble for people, as we all know.
So Please, please, make those groups and invites private, since there is an option to do so.

Submissive by trade - Dominant in personality

So about the time that I got my heart stomped on by the 4th Dominant in my life, my attitude changed and I would say for the better. I was still submissive but yet I took a more proactive role in my life. Alot of things changed around this time. I got my GED, started college, stopped dating losers and really took some time to think about what I needed and wanted in a relationship. Furthermore, I realized that if I continued letting myself get walked on by others then I would fall prey to anything or anyone. So over time I began deciding for myself what I liked and didn't like. I still enjoyed kneeling at a man's feet and loved the feel of a flogger on my back and a UV current tickling my thighs, but I no longer put up with the trivial bullshit as I like to call it. One of the first dominants who helped shape me into the person I am today, he took advantage of my subservient nature and even told me years later that he did so intentionally. He had me break my first moral code of ethics and that was "1. Never sleep with a married man." I did this out of love and illusion. The Love was from the fact that I was his completely, but the Illusion was that I believed him heart and soul and I was fool enough to do as he asked and it cost me my reputation in the local BDSM community.

So now I am dominant in personality because it is what I was molded into upon entering into the scene, that and I am a mom and in a dominant field with my job most of the time. So it also helped me become dominant in personality. But I am a sub, I just can't afford to be hurt anymore.

Kinda short notice but;
Some folks I know are doing a small indie movie (but one of the largest movies ever attempted by SFSU film school) with an s/m subtext and are filming at the Citadel on Wed 2-18, 9-12 AM and maybe some in the afternoon. No evening shooting. Not the best time for many but that's what it is. They need some extras for some background scenes. This would be relatively basic sorts of activities like some bondage and flogging. So far, I'll be doing most of the tieing and beating, there will be no inexperienced tops involved. Also no bloodplay or extensive public nudity... dammit. ;->

The Citadel on Livejournal

As an avid blogger (sometimes overly so) and longtime Livejournal user, I've been thinking that it may help further get the word out about the Citadel's event if I were to set up a Citadel account on Livejournal. It can be used to info on events and parties that happen at the Citadel so that kinksters on livejournal who may not be familiar with us can know what's going on. Setting up a Livejournal account is really easy, and once the journal is set up, I'll be more than happy to pass on the password to others who're also LJ users so they can also post things.

I've recently started posting "This Week at the Citadel" posts on my own personal LJ, but since those are "frienda only" posts, they only get so much exposure. The Ciadel Livejournal account will be public so that everyone who wants to read up on what's going on can.

I don't know whether or not I should be seeking some sort of approval before I set up the Livejournal account, but just in case I did need approval, I decided to throw it out there not just for Phil and August to see, but for others to possibly weigh in as well.

Dinner will start promptly at 5:00 p.m.

The rules for the event are as follows:

Masters/Mistresses shall wear full length fetish attire.
Their slaves shall wear nothing, or short fetish attire (shorts, jocks for men/short skirts/dresses for women).

Masters/Mistresses shall treat slaves respectfully.

Slaves shall not speak without permission of a Master/Mistress.

Slaves shall not use furniture before or after dinner, and only at dinner at their Master/Mistress' pleasure.

Slaves shall (unless otherwise occupied) fulfill any reasonable request made by any Master/Mistress. (This does not mean play, this means get the Master/Mistress a soda, snack, napkin, etc.)

Slaves shall be responsible for serving dinner and cleaning up after dinner and dessert.

Announcing Locked: Divinity

On behalf of the Locked Team, I want to thank everyone who attended last Friday's Locked event - Training for Mastery. We had really wonderful positive feedback from people that had a great time. I've said before that it's the goal of Locked events to go above and beyond to bring you something truly special and unique and from the reviews we've gotten so far, we accomplished that with the last event!

We are pleased to announce our next event, Locked: Divinity, scheduled for Saturday April 11th. For those of you paying attention, this party was originally scheduled for Friday April 17th. We rescheduled it so as not to conflict with the 2009 North West Leather Conference and Master/slave competition.

What is Locked: Divinity you ask? Well, the Locked themes build on each other, starting with etiquette and protocol which are the foundations of a solid D/s dynamic, extending to training which is the period of time in which you practice, practice, practice your craft of being a Master or slave, and culminating with spirituality. The Divinity event marks the height of the Locked cycle of events. It celebrates that place of transcendence that occurs when you've worked so hard for so long at your dynamic that it suddenly becomes effortless. There is a place where one no longer has to think about what Master might want or what the slave might need because the will of the Master and slave have become so unified that there is no difference between one and the other. The Divinity event explores that place of spirituality, of the connection to the divine through the connection of Master and slave and the practice of power exchange and service.

We are currently in the planning stages for this event to bring you yet another fantastic and unique evening. We reaching for more lofty goals than ever with a Garden of Eden setting and a special interactive event presented by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Please look for more information coming soon. In the meantime, we hope that you will mark your calendars and save the date of April 11, 2009 for the next Locked event - Divinity.

Critical writers - a bit ot

ok so I am in my Critical Thinking class this semester and it is only the second week and I am LOST. I admit I am the worst at accepting criticism when it comes to my writing. I know this and anyone who knows me knows this about me. I am very sensitive about people's negative connotations about my writing. When I write, I write from what is in my head and in my heart. I may ramble a bit but I do make good points. I write from experience and from worldly views. I admit I am not perfect in my writing, however I am at fault for being in love with what I write about. I love to write, it is a passion and an art form.

What I need from ya'll is - Constructive Criticism. I have people who are in my Critical thinking class who have never met me and do not know me or understand my writings. I need criticism from people who actually have met me, like me and want to help me succeed as a writer. Anyone who can help me with this would really be helpful and possibly help my grade for the semester, and my ego.

SF Citadel presents "One Year In: A Panel of BDSM Newbies"

We've all heard the good advice from those more experienced than us, but who really follows it all? Come hear some real-life stories, mistakes, and amazing experiences from a panel of people who have been through it recently enough that our marks are still fresh. This discussion will be moderated by bethie, Program Director for the Society of Janus. We will cover such topics as:

How has bdsm changed our lives? How did we meet and make friends in the community? How did we learn to negotiate before we knew our limits? How did we figure out what we wanted to try and with whom? What good advice are we grateful for? What good advice do we wish we had listened to?

Bio of the panel organizer: After years of confusion , Deb first realized she might be kinky in March of 2007. Her suspicions were confirmed the following July when she watched her first scene in real life, and by September she was playing regularly and ignoring at least half of the excellent advice given by wiser and more experienced souls. Just over a year later she is happily in service to August Knight and hoping to make it through the next few years with as much luck as the last one.

Master Jeff and His slave michelle are throwing a formal five course BDSM dinner at the Citadel on Sunday, October 12th, from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $50.00 each, which admits a Master (or Mistress) and one slave. If a Master or Mistress would like to bring an additional slave, the cost is $25.00 per slave. If you do not have a partner, please let me know as we do have others who would serve or want to be served.

There will be a reception from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

Dinner will start promptly at 5:00 p.m.

The rules for the event are as follows:

Masters/Mistresses shall wear full length fetish attire.
Their slaves shall wear nothing, or short fetish attire (shorts, jocks for men/short skirts/dresses for women).

Masters/Mistresses shall treat slaves respectfully.

Slaves shall not speak without permission of a Master/Mistress.

Slaves shall not use furniture before or after dinner, and only at dinner at their Master/Mistress' pleasure.

Slaves shall (unless otherwise occupied) fulfill any reasonable request made by any Master/Mistress. (This does not mean play, this means get the Master/Mistress a soda, snack, napkin, etc.)

Slaves shall be responsible for serving dinner and cleaning up after dinner and dessert.
