SAN FRANCISCO - California's Supreme Court declared gay couples in the nation's biggest state can marry — a monumental but perhaps short-lived victory for the gay rights movement Thursday that was greeted with tears, hugs, kisses and at least one instant proposal of matrimony.

Unfortunately later on in this article it says that the coalition of hate will mount a strong attack on this courts righting of a wrong. This is part of why I'm an atheist. I think it's all wishful thinking, superstition and basically bullshit on the part of those who call themselves christian, catholic, muslim, buddhist, jewish, _________________ , etc.

Re: And something to be proud of for Pride, 2008
Thu, May 15, 2008 - 9:52 PManyone who thinks preventing two people who love each other from marrying is more important than bringing an end to the deaths of our soldiers is seriously delusional.
and those who hate with the vehemence of those who preach about the immoraliy of it all will certainly get theirs... whether that is going to the hell they are so bent on avoiding, or the eternal disappointment when they discover it was all a waste of time.
today's ruling truly was a victory... even if it gets overturned in november, our supreme court has taken a stand.

Re: And something to be proud of for Pride, 2008
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 3:52 PMIf you read the court's decision, they answered, one by one, every single criticism/reason why gays shouldn't marry, and demolished them all.
My favorite line: " An individual's sexual orientation - like a person's race or gender - does not constitute a legitimate basis upon which to deny or withhold equal rights."

Re: And something to be proud of for Pride, 2008
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 2:50 PMI see plenty of hate in the world .... plenty aimed at Gay Marriage without question.
I just wondered who the hell this "coalition of hate" noted here in this thread, referred to specifically ?
Sounds like it's defined group or something from the context it used/written?
Can any one educate me?
Please pardon me for so very naive and uninformed .... I guess it shows so I won't deny this.
I typically don't post her much, I'm not smart nor clever enough to add my humble, uninformed, unaware voice to that of such luminaries as Mystic for example. Thus I wouldn't presume I could offer anything worthy of the great minds illustrated so clearly and so profoundly here regularly.
I just want to keep a look out for this "coalition of hate" I heard mention of.
I must have missed this information some how.
That's not hard for me ..... being one with average human ability ..... even when at my best
So if anyone can forward the specifics or even how this coalition is defined, identified, etc.
I would greatly appreciate it !
I don't want to run into any from this coalition and get my ass kicked .....
Plus I need all the help I can get, I simply can't think for myself and need guidance from others as I've found here in the past reading through theses posts.
Thank you all for all the unbiased, uncolored, righteous enlightenment I receive here .... without it, I'd have no direction in my life. -

Re: And something to be proud of for Pride, 2008
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 4:28 PMIn this context, "coalition of hate", I'm referring to those who consider themselves "morally superior because god made adam and eve and not adam and steve and gays can't marry each other and lesbians can't marry each other because it'll ruin the institution of marraige and teach our children to become fags" types.
Ya. Those fucktards. -

Tue, May 20, 2008 - 3:22 AMZig,
There will be a proposition on the November ballot to change the California constitution to forever ban gay and lesbian marriage in California. The coalition that put the proposition together managed to collect over a million signatures to get the prop on the ballot. That is why it is uber important for those who support the rights of gays and lesbians to get out and vote, if only for this one prop. -

Re: And something to be proud of for Pride, 2008
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 3:45 AMIt befuddles me that I've talked to a number of folks, a number that troubles me, in our scene who aren't registered and haven't voted in years. I'm befuddled almost to the point of sadness.
I think I'll start a Tribe or something. Just for that one prop. First thing when I come home from work tonight. Then I'll spam the hell outta this camp (Tribe dot net).
Mystic (getting ready for his daily toil)

Re: And something to be proud of for Pride, 2008
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 8:57 AMThe thing that has always killed me about people protesting gay marriage is simply this. I have lesbian aunts that have been together for 35 years. They are the most loving and loyal couple I have ever known, and have never been able to "marry" because they are a gay couple. But people like Brittany Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore, Carmen Electra, Nicholas Cage and all the other celebrities totally tarnish what marriage is all about with their month long marriages. Those are the kind of people who should be banned from marriage. Seriously. -
