Come "rockered out"--be a red-hot rebel rocker, a sexy groping groupie, a randy roadie, a perverted punk rocker, nasty band manager, the ultimate arena band fan, or flashy record producer in your leather, studs, spandex, scarves, short skirts, lots of makeup...and let's not forget BIG ROCKER HAIR!!! Your sexiest fetish attire will also work just fine (after all, rockers love leather, right?). Prizes awarded for best Male & Female Costume. Tue, July 15, 2008 - 1:18 AMI don't think you can copyright a name. Rather, the proper protection would be for a trademark. And part of the test for trademark protection is whether a typical consumer might confuse the two uses of the same mark.
Not sure how that would play out. I'd assume that MTV would send a "cease & desist" letter, that whoever was using the trademark would stop, and that would likely be the end of it.

My personal opinion is that not all "intellectual property" merits equal respect. It's not clear to me that this particular piece of supposed IP merits any whatsoever. Until and unless someone attempts to assert ownership rights over it, it isn't owned, imo.
And I'm still not a lawyer.
