    • <<I'll be there... incognito. :) >>

I'll be there incognito as well.

Of course the question must be asked - who is Cognito, how do we get in, and will we both fit?
      • The thing about the street, with the grates and rails. It's much safer than being on the sidewalks with all the crowds. Plus it's a huge thrill to hear and see everyone (250,000 plus people) cheering you on and waving.

Wear sun block, hats and walking shoes.

        Nothing like it.

I'll be there, in cutoffs, collar, and cuffs. Word is that barefoot is inadvisable, so I'm granting myself the mercy of sandals.

soo...I will be organizing the marchers and contingent/wheel monitors on the day of the parade and offer these words of advice....

    1) It will be hot, bring water
    2) Despite how great those heels may look, remember it is a long walk, on uneven city streets and you need to be able to stay up with the rest of the contingent, so make sure the shoes you choose are designed with that in mind.

and take a look at this tribe.... tribes.tribe.net/pride2008 ... for more info on our part of the parade
      • Oh Monty dont forget the big metal grates on market street. The spaces in them are big enough to swallow the young or at least any kinda of small heel
Oh I got Phil`s wheel see you on the 18th to be trained
        Harry
        • yeah, the grates have spaces, and I thought the metal was kinda slippery.

I was there last year for the first time as a marcher instead of as a watcher, but I can't be there this year. Another thing I'd add is that there was a lot of inevitable waiting around time before things got started. It healps if you're prepared for that. But it was fun. It's not often that I walk down the street and have people cheering. If I were doing it again this year, I'd probably bring a toy or two to wave around.
  • I would love to go but there's a big chance that I'll be recovering from surgery then. If I haven't had surgery or I'm all better by then, I will definitely do my best to come down and support Pride and the Citadel.
    • I'm definitely going to be there!

For those of you "on the fence" about whether or not you want to march with us, let Me say that of the many things I've participated in in all My years in this lifestyle, that marching down Market Street in the Pride Parade ranks in the tops!

There's nothing---repeat, NOTHING!--that can compare to the roar of thousands upon thousands of specators on both sides of Market, from just before Embarcadero to Civic Center, cheering for you....the comraderie of marching side-by-side in your finest fetishwear with your "Citadel family" in the Leather Contingent...the sense of accomplishment as you admire the float display as it slowly moves down the Parade route, knowing that your hard work made it a work or art for all to enjoy....and to look at some of the cheering, screaming people in those multitudes of spectators & see the joy in their eyes because you're not just marching in the Parade for SF Citadel & for the Leather Contingent....you're marching for THEM!!!

So....mark those calendars for Sunday, June 29....& march with us!!!

So we had the contingent training at the C tonight and as it stands right now, we do not have enough trained monitors to have anyone march behind the truck during the Pride parade.

The requirements are one monitor for each wheel of the vehicle, in our case that would be 4, and 2 monitors for every 25 marchers. After tonight's training we have 5 trained monitors.....so we can cover the truck but cannot have marchers behind it.

There is still time to attend some of the training scheduled in the next week so take some time and attend and then let me know that you have been trained. We want a good turnout and w/o enough monitors we can't have a marching group.

Here are the remaining training dates again:

    Thursday, June 19, 2008
    7:00 p.m.
Ceremonial Room, The Center, 1800 Market St, SF

    Saturday, June 21, 2008
    3:00 p.m.
Castro Country Club, 4058 18th St, SF
    (very limited space)

    Friday, June 27, 2008
    6:15 p.m.
    Women's Building Auditorium, 3543 18th St, SF

OK---that's a bit concerning to Me. SF Citadel has been one of the perennial highlights of the Leather Contingent in the Pride Parade since they first opened their doors to the BDSM community 3 years ago. Last year was a milestone year for Us, as We marched for the first time in the Pride Parade with a float....& now, based on Monty's report, We stand to have JUST the float with it's wheel monitors, & NO ONE marching behind it??? That'd mean every single one of you who's added to this thread about being excited about marching WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MARCH!!!

      People---this cannot happen!

There comes a time when you should disspell the thought that "well, someone else will do it, so I don't have to" & step up to the responsibility; in the long run, it's always better to have too many (as We've had before) than not enough, as We have now.

Think about it: if you're planning to march in the SF Citadel contingent anyway---as many have stated---then you're already gonna be there...so, if you went to one of the Safety Monitor/Contingent Monitor trainings remaining, you not only insure that you'll be able to march, but that EVERYONE is able to march!

Don't let "well, someone else will do it, so I don't have to" be the reason We don't march in the Pride Parade for the first time, Everyone...pick a date, sit through the Training (it's r-e-a-l easy!!) & make SF Citadel's participation in the 2008 Pride Parade a possibility!

This is the Citadels 5th year and this is the fourth Pride Parade that we as the Citadel have marched with the leather contingency. The first having a convertible and about 10 marchers.
      • Actualy 3 yers ago we marched behind a float too. The first time we had people being beaten as we marched down Market Street
        • Unsu...

....giggle...when you say float do you mean black convertible with Phil driving and who was it with the gas mask riding shotgun?? Heart and August sat on the back. I remember sitting at the old space, at an after gathering while August closed her eyes and pulled two names out of a hat. I think August called Heart at 2:00 am. I also remember getting the new banner to drape across the front of the car Phil rented for the day.

....seems like a lifetime ago doesn't it Harry?

        • ...to keep it on the same thread ;)

Are you getting as excited as I am about the Pride Parade approaching?
I hope so, because this year's contingent promises to provide even
          more pageantry than last years!

Picture if you will, the SF Citadel contingent making its turn onto
Market St, the sounds of thousands of cheering spectators lining both
sides of the street greeting our arrival as We march by...

...what will they see? They'll see:

          * flag bearers hoisting the Rainbow Pride flag & Leather Pride flag,
flanking a bevy of airbrushed ladies carrying the SF Citadel banner

          * our big, beautiful "Citadel family" clad in Our finest fetishwear
(with comfortable shoes, of course!), smiling & waving at them

          * the marksman-like skills of singletails being snapped, & the beauty
of Florentine floggers whipping 'round & 'round

          * a row of proud male & female submissives & their Dom/mes (or
marching partners) on collar & leash

          * the elegance of a stable of manned ponycarts pulled by trained human
          ponies

Doesn't that just sound incredible? Wanna make this happen? Then now's
the time to raise your hands & be a part of the magic, the colour, &
the comraderie that comes with marching with SF Citadel in Pride
          Parade 2008!!

          We'll need:

--2 males to hoist the Rainbow & Leather Pride flags
--2 airbrushed/liquid latexed females to carry the SF Citadel banner
(must be willing to be painted from the stomach up)
          --singletail people
          --people with Florentine flogging skills
--male & female submissives willing to march in collar & leash

In order for this to happen, We need to have trained Contingent
Monitors (CM) for safety reasons: We need 2 CM's for every 25
marchers---if We don't have enough CM's, We can't march! Please make
sure this doesn't happen & attend one of the Safety/Contingent Monitor
Training classes upcoming. There's only a week's worth of classes left, so ATTEND
          AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!

AND...Let's not forget the FLOAT! Although it'll be smaller scale
compared to last years, it promises to be just as spectacular. If
building the float interests you, be sure to come out to SF Citadel on
Tuesday, 6/24 at 7:30pm for the Float Decorating Meeting.

LET'S MAKE THIS A YEAR TO REMEMBER, PEOPLE!!!
